If you want to make your own to save money, or simply because you were in the middle of cooking when you realized you were out of it, and don't want to run to the store, here's the recipe I've been using for the last 20 years or so. It makes just the right amount to fill my little jar. If you want a smaller batch, use the same proportions, except use teaspoons whenever
it says "Tablespoon."
Of course, all spices here are the ground, dry sort.
Pumpkin Pie Spice
2 ½ Tablespoons Cinnamon
1 Tablespoon Ginger
1 Tablespoon Nutmeg
½
Tablespoon Cloves
Shake Well & Store in a cool, dry place away from direct light.

This is great... and so easy to do... just put it into a handy container and it works. I know I love to use pumpkin pie spice in muffins, muffin bars, cookies, bread and lots of different things... Thank you for sharing this. :)

ReplyDeleteMy oldest son (10yo) likes to make his own proprietary pumpkin pie-ish blend that he uses when he makes oatmeal for us. We've thought of having him make a bunch up and put in jars with labels as Christmas gifts.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a GREAT Christmas Gift! I'd love to get a homemade gift like that from a 10-year-old! Keep an eye out for other mix ideas between now & Christmas - I've already scheduled one for Pumpkin Spice Waffles (using Pumpkin Pie Spice), but I'm also hoping to do some Kid's Toy Oven Mixes - my dd and I are running a little "test-kitchen" for them!
